Author: ANISAKI Yuna
Flower Comics, 2007
Yay, it’s another Yuna Anisaki title! Considering the amount of manga by her that I own, it’s amazing how few summaries of her stuff I have on this page. I don’t know why this happens o.o Anyway, I am happy to talk about this recent volume by her. As always, her art is pretty and her characters are cute. The girls fall into bed a little bit too easily (yes, this one has smutty situations) and the guys start out as jerks, but this is still a fun, fluffy volume to read.
This is a volume of short stories that are all related by their setting, which is a ‘Megane Kissa’ or a coffee shop that features cute waiter boys who all wear glasses. While in reality this type of place for girls is rather rare (I only know of 2 otaku/fetish cafes for girls that have guys working as waiters- the others have girls dressed up as guys – Booooo…) this type of thing happens a lot in shoujo manga land ^_^ Each story is about a different girl finding love with one of the glasses-wearing, super-cute bishounen waiters while engaging in various smutty acts along the way. 🙂
The title of this manga, “TsunDere” means hot-cold personality, or the type of person that seems cold on the outside but is actually very nice and loving. This is a great description for all of the heroes in this volume. This Glasses Cafe is filled with TsunDere waiters ^_^ The first story is about Sumire, a girl who is in love with her high school teacher. He happens to wear glasses. When her friends drag her to the Glasses Cafe, she encounters the cold and aloof Katsuragi, one of the waiters. He doesn’t seem impressed by Sumire, but when he catches her staring at a photo of her teacher she has on her cellphone, his personality changes! Next up is a story about the adventures of Misao, the daughter of the cafe’s owner. She is interested in the Kaga, the staff-chief at the cafe, but he always treats her with super polite kindness. He acts angry and normal with the other waiters on staff, and Misao longs to be treated normally and to become closer to him. So, she comes up with a great idea- dress as a boy and work at the cafe! As the owner’s daughter they can’t really argue. The third story is about a girl named Erika who discovers that the aloof and super-cool Shijou-kun from her high school works at the glasses cafe! He is loved by all the girls at her school, but he ignores them all. To discover that he has this secret job is amazing! Erika is shocked at how kind and smiling he is at the cafe when at school he is so cold. Knowing he has this job when their school doesn’t allow students to work is a great bit of leverage Erika has, and she uses it to her advantage for a little blackmail but gets a little more than she bargains for! The final story is a smutty love triangle involving a girl and identical twin brothers, one of whom is her boyfriend, the other is an employee at the cafe!
If you like boys with glasses, this is the manga for you! ^_^
