Oh wow, strange things abound in this one! I *really* purchased this one at random ^^ I was in a used manga store in Japan where all the prices were so good I was tempted to just grab everything. For about 100 yen a volume, I figured the 2 volumes of this would make for interesting reading on the plane home. The artwork on the cover is pretty, is just the tiniest bit retro-looking. I really like their costumes, and hey, he’s cute! 🙂 OK, enough rambling, onto what I (THINK) is the story. There is so much going on in this one, I am not quite sure what the heck is happening ^^;;
It begins with a girl in her room, wearing pajamas, crying on her bed, wishing she was anywhere else than where she was. I get the impression that she was seriously rejected in public at school by this guy she liked but did not like her. Well it happened at school anyway, involved a guy, and now the girl is in a state of massive depression. Fortunately for her, she is the heroine in a shoujo manga, so you know things will start looking up 🙂 They do, with the appearance of this really strange old magical person who promptly answers the girl’s wish of being somewhere else. She is zapped to another world, and is suddenly in a fancy dress, and now has really long hair. The girl has no idea what is going on, but looks pretty excited to be there. It looks like a magical world (of course), as there is a large castle, a flying Pegasus, etc.. She is greeted by a king and queen who seem to recognize her, calling her Princess Bibide. (Bibide?? is that a name? Er… there is a Cinderella reference, I guess, like in ‘Bippity Boppity Boo’ or whatever… anyway-) Bibide looks like she knows them too and calls them mother and father!
OK, so Bibide has arrived, and everyone is hailing her as a princess. (I think she may be a long-lost princess.) Well, in true romantic fashion, Bibide meets 2 guys she seems to like- a Prince (I think) who appears to be her fiance, and then this guy named Alphard who appears in her room one day, asking if she really is the princess Bibide. Lets see. Much of the story involves the great adventures she has as she leaves the castle and travels all around with Alphard in his convertible. (Yeah, he has a car… He also dresses kinda funny, sort of like Rambo meets Prince Charming). There are evil villains for them to fight, peril to face, new people to meet… and the question I was wondering- is this girl really the princess? And are her adventures in this magic land real or a dream? Will she ever go home again? Which guy will she love? OOh the drama!
