This is a compilation of short stories by different authors. Usually such compilation books are larger and look different, but this one looks just like a regular tankoubon. The art styles of the 4 authors are very different. SHINOZUKA Hiromu, who draws “Change!” has a very cute, exaggerated style. All her characters have HUGE eyes. ANAN Mayuki’s style is more realistic, but is very pretty and detailed. Then it’s a sudden change, as TAKAMURA Yuuka’s art is very simple, and uses slightly thicker lines. Finally, KOHARA Yuuko’s art is fairly standard cute shoujo. No HUGE eyes or excessive detail. I like all of the artists in this volume, but I think ANAN Mayuki’s is the best ^_^
This volume contains for extreeeemly cute and romantic stories. The title story “Change!” hakes up half of the book, while the other three fill out the rest. All of the stories are roantic and involve the supernatural in some way.
Like the other manga I review on this site with the same title, SHINOZUKA Hiromu’s “Change!” is about body swapping. Much to KOMATSU Anri’s dismay, she ends up switching bodies with her twin brother Senri. However in this case, the switch was a deliberate action by Senri! For reasons unknown to Anri, Senri used a book of magic and performed a spell that caused the switch. Anri is horrified and can’t understand why Senri, who has always been her best friend and closest person, could do such a thing. Senri hints that the reason for the switch is so that he could be close as a girl to his classmate and good friend Hokuto. But it’s Anri who ends up close to Hokuto because she must act like Senri at school. Hokuto is good friends with Senri, so Anri suddenly finds herself talking to him a lot… and falling for him…
Next up is a nicely drawn fantasy story set in a magical kingdom. It is sort of a cross between Cinderella and The Frog Prince ^_^; It is called Ochikobore Princess (Leftover Princess) and the heroine, Ruby, is a student at Princess Gakuen. Her grades are poor, and she is looked down upon by the snooty girls at her school. One day she rescues a little frog from being squashed by her arrogant classmate Crystal. For some reason Ruby is not surprised when the frog talks to her. His name is Silver. He and Ruby become good friends. Meanwhile, a prince from a southern country is visiting the school, and a ball is being held in his honor. All the girls at the school are after the prince and want his kiss, including Ruby… will she live happily ever after?
Back to the ‘real world’ for story #3 where a girl meets a guy who is a popular idol and discovers his magical secret! Finally, a mischievous ghost helps a girl find romance in the final story in this volume. All of the stories are adorable~!
