I was surprised, after I bought this, that this was the only volume of manga that I have by this author. The art style and story type in this seem so familiar, I could have sworn I had read her stuff somewhere before. Maybe she was the assistant to some other mangaka I like or something XD This is a cute one-shot volume. I liked the cover because it has a winged bishounen (always a plus) AND an evil plushie teddy bear. The art style is ultra-cute (Yui’s eyes are HUGE!) and the story is predictible, but it’s still fun fluff ^_^ This is published by Flower Comics, but it ran in Ciao magazine, so there isn’t much in the way of smut. It’s all cute harmless demon plushie fun 😀
This story begins, as all good stories do, with the hero being hit by a truck. (ouch!) This would usually indicate the END of the story, not the beginning, but in the case of Jyan, it’s just a minor setback. You see Jyan is a demon who had transformed himself into human form and was sort of wandering around the streets when he was unexpectedly hit by a truck (does anyone actually expect that?). His human body was dying, and the demon needed a new host body quickly before his soul went as well. Thinking fast, Jyan latches on to the first thing he can use to host his soul: a teddy bear!
Yui is a cute middle school girl who is happily surprised when her papa brings her home a plush teddy bear as a gift. She gets quite the shock to discover that it is posessed by a demon! But Jyan is a cute winged bishounen demon, so things aren’t that bad 🙂 Yui and Jyan get along fairly well, even thought it can be difficult to hide him from her family! The usual wacky hijinks that one might expect to have when one gets their own demonic teddy bear ensue. Jyan follows Yui to school, jealous rivals appear, sinister demons threaten Yui’s happiness, etc. But through it all, Jyan and Yui start to really like each other…
