I have had this series forever, and I just now realized that I never added it to this random shoujo page. I have no idea why. I have loved it for a long time. Maybe I always thought I’d already covered it here or something, who knows ^_^;; This is a supercute 4-volume series by Ikeno Koi, author of several other fun series such as Nurse Angel Ririka SOS and Tokimeki Tonight. It has a typical mid-90’s art style which is cute, if a bit cluttered. This story has it all- family bonding, romance, adventure, and even the supernatural! There is the required shoujo love triangle that ends up being resolved in an unexpected way.
TSUTSUMI Nanoka is a cute 13-year-old first-year middle school student who lives with her three older brothers. The olest is Ryuu who works as a police detective. He is 25, and he has a gift of super-hearing. Next is Shishimaru, otherwise known as “Rai-chan” who is 20 years old and works as a club hostess (he is a ‘new-half’, or transsexual). Rai-chan has the gift of a super sense of smell. Closest in age to Nanoka is Takaya, who is 15 and is a third year student at Nanoka’s school. He has the gift of super vision. As for Nanoka, what is her gift? At the beginning of the story she doesn’t know, but she soon finds out!
Nanoka has a crush on Takaya’s good friend ADACHI Ryo. She thinks he is cute and nice and considerate. She doesn’t know what his feelings are towards her. Meanwhile, Nanoka’s good friend Mahoko has a crush on Takaya. Nanoka finds this out when she suddenly discovers that she can hear Mahoko’s innermost thoughts/feelings! Nanoka discovers she has the supernatural gift to read what is in the hearts of others. It is triggered when she touches someone or something that belongs to them. At first Nanoka is shocked at her ability and doesn’t want it. But when Ryo gets into trouble, Nanoka’s gift proves to be very helpful!
As if Nanoka’s life isn’t complicated enough, she soon learns a shocking secret about her relationship to her brothers. Completely distraught, she runs to Ryo for comfort, and he helps her regain her confidence. Nanoka feels very comfortable around Ryo. At the same time, Takaya sees Nanoka become closer to Ryo, and is surprised when he feels jealous over the situation…
