Okay, so this volume wasn’t exactly random either ^_^;. This is Seishun Shiterukai, and it is one of the series that ran in the shoujo manga monthly, Ribon. I have been following this story for awhile, and I think it is one of my favorites from Ribon 🙂 The story tells about 16 year old USAMI Rika, a girl so smart, she went abroad to Australia to study, and returned with a teaching certificate at her young age! That’s right, she is a 16 year old teacher. But who would hire such a young girl to be in charge in a classroom? None other than school Principal Sahara Kagetora, this totally freaky guy with long hair in a ponytail who is always dressed in traditional Japanese clothing and holds this fan that he waves at people. This guy is totally wacky. He’d be a perfect match for mama in Kodomo no Omocha 🙂 Anyway, so Rika is hired to be a teacher to a class full of people her own age!
Now this is were the fun begins. It’s time, in typical shoujo fashion, to set off the romantic sparks! In one corner is Sahara Reo, a cute guy who looks like a class angel ^^ (Sahara! yes, he is related to the Principal ^^;). In the other corner is Ookami Shirou! He looks like a class bad boy. Now let the games begin! 🙂 Can the class truly function normally with a 16 year old teacher? What if she falls for a student? Throw in some very trippy imagination dream sequences that Rika has in which everyone is suddenly drawn in 70’s shoujo manga style (See the picture to the right :), add in some boxing kangaroos and the fear there of, sprinke some romantic tension and insanity, and finally top it off with great artwork, and you have one highly enjoyable manga series 🙂
