Yep, this was most definitely a purchase based on cover art 🙂 I really liked the look of both the guy and the girl here. Fortunately the story inside was just as cool as the cover! Unfortunately, this volume has very little furigana (the little hiragana characters next to the kanji), so I had a really difficult time figuring out what was going on. My kanji knowledge is *very* limited 🙁 Anyway, this volume contains 5 stories, all by Tomomi Nagae. All of them are stand-alone stories with different sets of characters except for the 3rd and 4th stories which are a matched set. The couple on the cover are featured in the first story, which has the same title as the manga volume istelf, “Watashi no Oujisama”, or “My Prince”
“Watashi no Oujisama” stars a girl named Haneko, an OL (office lady) for a downtown office. Her daily routine is thrown for a loop when two new (male) supervisor-coworker type guys are introduced into the office. To Haneko’s surprise, she knows both of them from childhood. There is Takafumi, the elegant, handsome guy who used to be her prince when they playacted as children. Then there is Reiji, the guy who, as children, would let Haneko sit on his back and be her ‘horse’ ^_^ Takefumi is popular with all the office ladies, and it is no wonder, he is handsome, young, and charming. Reiji seems to be the more tough, bossy type, yet Haneko learns that neither guy is quite what he seems… The second story involves a young woman named Yuko who finds herself attracted to a co-worker named ASAOKA-san. However the presence of a very real ghost from Asaoka’s past may be the one thing preventhing them from getting together.
The third and fourth stoires are a set. They are both about a high school girl named Saya-chan, who finds herself with a new ‘brother’ living at her house, the extremely cute and popular tennis star at school, TERASAWA-kun. This creates a situation sort of like Marmalade Boy in which Saya finds herself very atrtacted to Terasawa, but she must think of him as her brother. Also throw in a protective father, a cute younger sibling, and all the girls at school who also like Terasawa, and you have a fun story 🙂 Oh, and should I mention that Terasawa is extremely cute? ^_^ Ahh shallow me again ^^ Um, as for the last story, I honestly am not sure what the heck is going on there ^^ It’s also set in a high school, but beyond that, I really need to brush up on my japanese before I can attempt to summarize it ^^ At any rate, I really like the art by the author. Her lines are light and thin, and the bizarre expressions on character faces when something silly happens are adorable 🙂
