I bought this one after reading a short preview of it online. Oh wow, I really loved the artwork in this! It is just so pretty! The heroine always wears a kimono, and they look so nice~! And, er, the hero is really hot 🙂 This is the first volume in a cute romantic comedy series. Actually, because this is a romantic comedy, the art style can change from beautiful and detailed to simplistic and silly on occasion. Characters become super-deformed or drawn in 70’s retro-shoujo style, and they can get some crazy expressions on their faces! Anyway, I look forward to seeing future volumes of this.
Towako-chan is the daughter of a very wealthy family. Growing up pampered and sheltered, she is always alone, and feels very sad and lonely. Her parents are always away, and she is stuck alone on a huge estate. The only thing that until now has kept the loneliness away and provided comfort to Towako is the fact that when she turns 18, she will get to marry Yuuga-sama. Yuuga is her promised fiance, and all through her life, Towako was given various photos of him that she treasures greatly. He looks gentle and handsome, and she can’t wait to meet him!
Finally her birthday approaches, and it is time for her to meet her destined husband! Towako-chan is so very excited! But there is one problem…. Yuuga has no idea who Towako-chan is, and has never heard of their engagement. Instead of being gentle and charming, he is rude and rather angry. Well, I suppose being tied up and held prisoner would make any guy angry! (Towako’s family has a strange way of doing things… 🙂 Fortunately for Towako, they have some time to get to know each other better, because they are now locked in/stranded inside of her large traditional estate home!
Thus begins the strange relationship between Towako and Yuuga. Towako is very enthusiastic, cute, and loyal to Yuuga. Spending her whole life fixated on him can make you a little loopy. When she wants something, she can be very determined to get it. Towako’s exposure to the outside world is pretty much zero, so she is very naive, but her bright personality and honest nature is sure to win Yuuga over… once he stops trying desperately to escape her!
Yuuga doesn’t know what to make of Towako or this whole marriage nonsense. Can he really be engaged to this very… unusual… girl? He doesn’t have a very strong opinion of marriage. His personality is rather surly. Meanwhile, there are others who aren’t keen on the idea of Towako marrying Yuuga either. Together Yuuga and Towako face helicopter kidnappings, drugged drinks, elite ninjas, baffling cellphone technology, and outrageous parents in their journey to be together. Will Towako get her man? Can Yuuga survive living with Towako? Such a fun comedy here!
It is also worth mentioning that there is some cute artwork on this book under the dust jacket 🙂
This manga is so good! I love the art and all…. I went to read this because of your review…. Thanks….
Can’t wait to read the next volume….. XD
