Hey wow, it’s a manga about anime voice acting! Cool! I bought this on that basis alone. There are so many series about heroes or heroines striving to be great soccer players or the best chef, and that sort of thing, but I haven’t seen a manga about voice acting before. I have read things by this author before. They are a bit on the sexy side (her stories run in Sho-Comi, a magazine known for it’s spicy stories) but I really like her art, and it’s a fun, typically shoujo-manga-like story. I summarized another of this author’s stories on this site, so I had an idea of what I was getting into when I bought this 🙂
Hina-chan is a young girl who aspires to be a good anime voice actress. Her dreams come true when she is selected to play the lead in a new spring anime called “Vamp”. Even more amazing is her co-star, Yuki HAZUMI. Yuki is a famous voice actor. He has a lot of fans, and is basically the hot idol star of the voice acting world. He has the lead role as the vampire. All the other voice actresses can’t believe Hina was selected for the job, and many of them are bitter and jealous. Hina is a cute, naive, and shy girl, and she can’t believe she will actually be meeting Yuki in person. But meet him she does, and he is just as cool and amazing as she had heard. During their first recording session, Hina is so flustered and awed when she hears his great voice in person that she has a difficult time concentrating on her role. However Yuki is very sneaky.
The scene they are trying to act out is one where Yuki’s vampire character lures Hina’s character to him and he sucks her blood. To simulate the mood and emotions on the screen, Yuki’s hands so a little wandering on Hina, startling her so much (yet heating her up ^_^;) that she is able to produce the required emotion for the scene. Yuki considers Hina a bad actress, which is why he offers her some special training to help her out ^_^; He is attracted to her, and actually blushes at how cute she is. Hina is a little nervous of Yuki, but she agrees to his special training which seems to involve a lot of her sitting on his lap as he acts out his vampire part. Yet she takes his acting at face value- as training. Wow, she IS naive. He can’t quite believe she is actually thinking his advances on her are this special training. But Hina is bright eyed and cheerful, and thinks this training is really helping! Well actually, her training DOES help! When in the right frame of mind, Hina’s voice is spectacular. Yuki continues to make moves on Hina, but she has a few surprises in store for him, including some serious competition! Yes, this series is a little naughty, but it’s so much fun ^_^
